Is it ethical to experiment with animals?
In my opinion it is hard question to answers, people uses animals for their experiment to improve on certain fields of studies. Animals are often test on new medicines, and by observing the chemical and physical reactions of the animals could then determine whether the medicine is suitable for human. It decreases the risk of harming the human body, and it secures the effectiveness of the medicine. No doubt that animal testing brings a huge impact and improvement of human technology, especially in medically industry, scientist then could discover new kinds of cure of medicine to improve the living of human beings. In my personal view, although animal experiments are helpful, I feel that it is unethical, animals even though they don’t speak but I believe they have feelings, they would also feel pain the same way humans do. Animals may seem to be lower class than us, but they have lives just like we do. Also, testing certain species might cause extinction or damage the environmental chain. I think that animal experiments are beneficial to the human society, but it’s unethical because we’re damaging lives to gain our own improvement.

Can psychological research be dangerous?
Psychological research can certainly be dangerous, it is a science that studies minds and thoughts therefore if it’s used incorrectly it could affect people’s mind and influences their behavior. It might cause a person to have negative thoughts or damage their mental health. Also, psychology is a new science and it’s still in an experimental stage, many predictions have to been made and if the predictions happens to be wrong it might effect the health of the testing subject. Testing on animals also threatens the life of the animals which might eventually causes danger to the environment.

Scientists only take a small number of animals to experiment. I think it would be hard to make them extinct. Pollution or hunting are more likely to be the cause by ruining the food chain and cause extinction.

Different groups perceived the experiments on animals and possibly humans in different ways. It’s not ethical to experiment with the animals according to animal protection because of the intense shock that the animals experience. The researchers assure them that the intensity is at a minimum. Overall it does seem ethical because experimenting on animals for research is fine because 7% of psychology’s studies involved animals and 95% of it were just rats, mice, rabbits, and birds none of which are of much importance. The dangerous part is that psychology can be used for the good and the bad just like how nuclear power can be used to light up cities or demolish them. With psychology, you can either educate someone, or deceive them through the cure of talk. Psychology links to many of the problems that we have today.

I agree with Diane's opinion that animal experiments are unethical. Yes, they have feelings just like us, and they are not the lower class. All living things are equally created / evolved (well this is kind of biological + religious). However, the experiments may be benefical to the human society, but the benefits exist since there were tons of failure when the experiments were conducted. Also, i want to say something about Henry's point. We may know more on how to protect them my experimenting and having significant results, but not all experiments are successful. We only look at the good sides, so we regard this as beneficial, but we should also think of the sacrifices that brought the successful results. We cannot be 100% sure that a result would bring benefits to a certain species of animal, and a failure or unsuccessful result does reduce the number of animals involved in that experiment. (btw, i'm not trying to argue w/ you~ just stating my opinion :D )

I have to agree and disagree on your points. Apparently I agree on the fact that we need animal testing to be sure that there are less risk on human life when the medicine is put into market for sell. I have to disagree to the point where you argued that animal testing may cause extinction. I think it actually should reduce the extinction since by testing we know more on how to protect them.
